Los Angeles furniture brand Modernica has announced their final collaboration of the year (their collaborations are always terrific) with Japanese fashion brand Hysteric Glamour from Tokyo native Nobuhiko Kitamura, known for taking design cues from classic “Americana” imagery.
Modernica x Hysteric Glamour Furniture
The Modernica x Hysteric Glamour Furniture collection includes Modernica’s Side Shell Chairs, a Daybed and an Aiko Side Table each adorned with Hysteric’s iconic motifs.
The special collection customizes popular models of Modernica furniture with the overall icon pattern of Hysteric Glamour. Each piece comes with a custom nameplate.
SHELL CHAIR
The side shell chair, a masterpiece of mid-century furniture designed by Charles Eames, is reproduced by Modernica utilizing the original press machines and dies and made in the original materials and colors by the Zenith factory since 1987.
The Hysteric Glamour artwork makes full use of this special technology and the craftsmen make certain that it is transferred and printed making the best use of the texture and expression unique to fiberglass. The chairs have the black Eiffel base and are very comfortable, making them ideal not only for dining but also for working.

DAYBED
The Modernica daybed is an original design featuring the iconic mid-century V-shaped legs called “hairpin legs.”
It can be used as a 3-seater sofa or as a bed for visitors by removing the cushion on the back. The frame is made of the finest plywood with a thickness of 1.5 cm, which has excellent durability. A coil spring with moderate elasticity is installed under the seat surface to provide comfortable seating.

AIKO TABLE
Modernica’s original end table design made with a fiberglass top plate and 11 layers of plywood has simple and sturdy legs reinforced in an X shape.
As with the shell chair, the artwork is printed with a special transfer technology so as not to spoil the texture of the fiberglass. It can be used in various ways, such as an end table, a coffee table or a pedestal table.
