Handmade in Fullerton, California, these Fan Art Prayer Candles are some false idols I don’t mind worshipping. From Tupac to Willy Wonka to The Golden Girls, Kerrin Piche Serna turns many of our favorite Pop Culture Icons into parodying prayer candles.
Pop Culture Prayer Candles
Kerrin explains “I make and ship all my candles from my home in Fullerton, California, with my wonderful husband Michael as Chief Shipping Officer (fastest candle packaging in the West) and my supercute Shih Tzu Ophelia as moral support and Chief Napping Officer.
I try to add new designs as often as I can, but I’m a bit slow because I put lots of time and thought into each design. I get pretty obsessive about doing justice to each Saint. I have a list a mile long of Saints to make, and I get more suggestions all the time. I’d love to be able to get them done faster, but I’m a perfectionist and can’t call a design complete until it’s absolutely right. I put my own heart and soul into these images because I truly do love the people and characters I celebrate with these candles. Especially Oprah and Gayle. And Piggy and Kermit. And Neil deGrasse Tyson and Lisa Vanderpump and…I have more heroes than I will ever have time to candleize!
I do take commissions from time to time, depending on who the celebrity is and whether I really want to stare at their face up close and personal for a week. If I think lots of people would want a certain candle I will definitely consider it. These candles make people so happy and I totally get it. We all have our personal Saints and I think prayer candles are a fun and delightful way to celebrate them.”
Did you weep when Notorius BIG, Tupac, David Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, George Michael or Carrie Fisher died? I did. Now you can light an eternal… well, okay a 160 hour burn time candle… in their honor.
The unscented candles are set in an 8″ tall glass cylinder to which a color printed paper label with a photoshop image is affixed, lovingly, by hand.
How about a little altar to Sherlock?
or Game of Thrones’ Daenerys or Jon Snow?
No matter whether the sainted is dead, alive or fictional, these idols make great housewarming and hostess gifts.
The Obamas, Star Wars, The Muppets, Pop Stars, Reality TV Stars, sitcoms from long ago and many more are available as Saints pictured on these Eternal Flame Candles offered through Kerrin’s etsy store, The Eternal Flame.
She’s even got one for St. Gambrinus, the Saint Of Beer.
Prices for individual candles are $12 each; the more you buy, the lower the price. It’s a good deal when you consider the prices of candles these days. Personally, there are about twenty I’d like.
