The new Blue Christmas decorations by italian brand Alessi are a different look and feel from Alessi’s previously stunning collection by artist Marcello Jori. These new Christmas baubles by Laura Polinoro (LPWK) and Antonio Aricò offer original inspiration for those who love creating a holiday atmosphere that may veer from the traditional Red and Green.

The blown glass decorations are perfect to hang onto the traditional Christmas tree but they can also be placed on the table or on a flat surface, thanks to the particular design of the base.

Made of hand-decorated blown glass on a mirrored blue base, each ball depicts a different character, protagonist of the magical fairy-tale world of the Blue Christmas collection: the dancer, the soldier, the angel, the star, the Santa Claus and finally the reindeer.

About the designers:
LPWK
Born in Bergamo, Italy, Laura Polinoro graduated in Drama Art and Music Studies in Bologna. Her first job was in the field of contemporary dance as art director and costume and set designer. Later she undertook research at the Domus Academy in Milan. From 1990 to 1998 she was in charge of the Centro Studi Alessi, where she operated as meta-project designer and art director, coordinating workshops both in-house and in association with various universities and design institutes the world over. She was also involved in publishing and communications activities. Items which entered production in that period are identified with the acronym “CSA”. Since 2004 products overseen by Ms. Polinoro have been identified with the letters “LPWK”

Antonio Aricò
Graduated from the Polytechnic School of Milan and Alta Scuola Politecnica, Antonio felt from an early age a strong interest and energy in finding his own language and way to define his love for design. He has presented a few iconic objects – the Watering Kettle Cans, the Swing Chair or the Water Pitcher Block and created a few successful collections like ‘Back Home’ and ‘Taste of Wood’. Since few years Antonio is constantly working with clients like Seletti and Barilla Group. His work has already been shown around the world, lately with the exhibition “The New Italian Design” that went around the world: San Francisco, Santiago de Chile, Cape Town and he has been invited for various workshops: in Venice Biennial with IN-Residence at the Swiss Pavilion and in Australia with the RMIT university. Antonio’s Aricò latest highlights: an invitation of Lidewij Edelkoort to participate at the Nomadismi exhibition in Milan in 2013, his Water Pitcher Block and Oil Tank being selected by Rossana Orlandi for Larte restaurant in the Edita Materia Collection in Milan in 2014.
