The love for the original Volkswagen Beetle never dies, it continues to inspire. We’ve seen homes and restaurants inspired by the classic car and one of the latest evolutions of the beloved Bug is the Volkspod, a custom made minibike.
Volkspod Minibikes
Indiana based Brent Walter, a self-proclaimed “maker and builder” is gaining attention and fans for his cool little Volkspods in which he takes all four fenders off of old VW Beetles, welds all of them together, and builds a minibike out of them!
Brent creates the ‘shell’ from the four old fenders – he needs to use all four of them for perfect symmetry for each shell.
With beautiful attention to detail and superb craftsmanship, he then gives them a gorgeous finish using actual vintage Volkswagen colors – in this case, a ‘63 VW L380 turquoise.
Then Walter adds a tail light, a head lamp, a schwinn seat, handlebars and a VW emblem to them. Even a little pin-striping.
And that’s just the exterior! He hand builds and welds the entire frame (complete with kickstand) and builds the motor with throttle linkage.
And when all together…

Brent just shared this video of them in action!:
Cool, huh? And sadly, he’s not selling them. At least not yet.
