The Saluzi Superyacht launched by Australian shipyard Austral as the Tia Moana in 2003, has been recently refitted and renamed. The extensive refit was led by yacht designer Luiz De Basto and features artwork from contemporary artist Li Jiwei.
The Refit and Redesigned Saluzi Superyacht
The Saluzi Superyacht is a 5 level deck, 69 meter superyacht that can accommodate 32 guests with interior and exterior design that shouts “Party!” After all, it has an onboard karaoke bar and nightclub.
Built by Burgess Yachts, she was originally named Tia Moana. Her new name, Saluzi, is based upon a mystical warhorse of Tang Dynasty Emperor Taizong that, according to legend, despite being wounded in battle by an arrow amidst fierce fighting, the horse unflinchingly delivered the Emperor back to safety.
This explains the exterior artwork, created by Chinese artist Li Jiwei. It’s a modern interpretation of the ancient tale and in his own words, Saluzi is, “an expression of both East and West, a blending of spirituality and materiality.”
Miami based yacht designer Luiz de Basto and his team’s work is eye-popping. “The briefing for the Saluzi interior team was, from day one, to think different, to be original. Although we did not know exactly where this would lead, the owners knew exactly what they did not want. They did not want to play it safe, they were not afraid to take risks. It was a good time for us to be creative, to get inspired”, says de Basto.
The iconic SALUZI is spread over five voluminous decks. Saluzi superyacht’s 32 crew on board takes care of up to 32 guests who are lodged in cabins that are divided into 2 master suites, 7 VIPs and 7 deluxe cabins, spread over 1650sqm of space across 5 decks that also comprise landscaped terraces, spa, karaoke bar, nightclub and an open air cinema. She also has a hugely sought-after dive center. Envisaged as an ultra-chic floating beach house, SALUZI’s shallow draft is perfect for exploring SE Asia and the Indian Ocean.
