Those with an affinity for Midcentury Modern architecture and design will go bananas over the Retro Christmas Village. A selection of acrylic stand-up displays that will turn your fireplace mantel into the grooviest, most swinging example of a Winter Wonderland this holiday season.
Retro Christmas Village for Midcentury Modern Fans
The Retro Christmas Village is a smart evolution of the beautifully illustrated Midcentury Modern Greeting Cards we brought you from Diane Dempsey and her Retro Christmas Card company several years ago.
It’s always enjoyable for me to to write about an artist or designer with a true enthusiasm for their craft. Diane Dempsey is one of those people. A real lover of the holidays, art, and of course, Midcentury modern architecture and design, she has managed to turn her passion into products for others to enjoy.
Classic Christmas scenes made using Diane’s original artwork are printed on 1/4″ thick acrylic and designed to stand up, allowing light to pass through them.
The six designs comprise three commercial businesses; Santa’s Soda Shop, Garland’s Department Store and the Ring-a-Ding Cocktail Lounge; and three private residences, each an example of classic Midcentury Modern Architecture. Add faux snow and fairy lights and you’ve got a holiday window or mantel display that will take you back in time to the era of Department Store Santas, Soda Shops and Swing Dancing.
Unlike those ceramic Christmas villages that must be carefully wrapped, boxed and stored annually, taking up half of your garage, these are packed flat into a box, taking up minimal space.
