FERNAND Surfboards teamed up with artist Jean Jullien to create what just may be the four cutest surfboards we’ve ever seen to kick off the launch of their new collaborative clothing collection.
Jean Jullien Surfboards for FERNAND
The limited edition Jean Jullien X FERNAND collection consists of nicely made long and short-sleeved tees and sweatshirts in Surfer Blue, Khaki and Black, each of which feature an embroidered patch of an artistically stylized little surfer by artist Jullien.
Having just launched in France, you can shop the Jean Jullien x Fernand collection here. But it’s really the custom hand-painted surfboards that started appearing on social media to create buzz for the collection with which we fell in love.
The four one-of-a-kind surfboards are hand-painted in Jean Jullien’s inimitable cartoon-like illustrative style. There are two long boards; a white seal and a blue whale and two mid-length boards; an orange fish and a blue fish.
All hand-painted by Jean Jullien directly on the foam and then glassed (that’s surf slang for directly on the uncoated board and then coated with fiberglass) by the guys at Resin League and then polished by Paul Hyde of Earlgrey, a fabrication and restoration company for cars and surfboards.
We’re not the only ones drooling over these. Several people asking about the boards were directed to the Alice Gallery to enquire about them, but I’m pretty certain they must be spoken for by now.
