As fans of Casey Weldon’s pop-surrealist art and his fabulous Snarky Song Lyric Kitty Cat Valentines aka “Love Cats”, we were thrilled to learn that he’s added some new ones in time for V-Day 2022.
Casey Weldon Love Cats
Originally created as a satirical analysis on the internet, love and social media, “Catharsis” was a 2017 solo exhibition of original acrylic paintings on wood by Weldon. The show also featured a series of 9 pieces he called “Pick-Up Felines” which were depicted in the retro style of childhood Valentines with little sayings. Only instead of “Will U Be Mine?”, he used song lyrics from popular and alternative music that you wouldn’t expect.
After the show’s success, Weldon smartly turned the original pieces into “Love Cats” prints, stickers and Valentine’s Day cards he sold through his online store and Spoke Art Gallery. He added more the following year and the year after that.
This year, Weldon is continuing to create new original acrylic Lovecats paintings on wood for the ongoing series, each of which sell out the moment he posts them:
The following two original prints are available here, here and here:
And he’s also offering enamel pins (because who doesn’t these days?) made in collaboration with YESTERDAYS and available here
