Artist-decorated REGA turntables Raise Money for Charity

Secret 7″ and Greenwich Peninsula invited ten contemporary artists to create unique versions of Rega Turntables for Planar 1/1, an auction to raise funds for Mind, the mental health charity. Artists who embellished and made the turntables into unique pieces included Gavin Turk, Jeremy Deller and Jake & Dinos Chapman.

Tsai & Yoshikawa’s turntable in acrylic paint uses abstract shapes, patterns, and textures

The incredible artists who kindly created and donated work included Gavin Turk, Jeremy Deller, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Es Devlin, Stuart Semple, James Joyce, Jean Jullien, Pete Fowler, Hsiao-Chi Tsai & Kimiya Yoshikawa and Francis Richardson.

Turner prize winning artist Jeremy Deller has applied Neolithic arrowheads to his Planar 1, whilst Gavin Turk has re-envisioned his turntable as a heritage plaque referencing ‘Cave’, one of his most iconic pieces. Mind ambassador Stuart Semple’s turntable is a nod to Joy Division, and Jean Jullien has used the turntable’s movement to brilliantly bring his work to life.

Although bidding closed on September 12th, the turntables are worth a look!
