It’s been too long since I’ve brought you a jaw-dropping vehicle to covet, so when I came upon the new ARES Wami Lalique Spyder, an extraordinary design collaboration between ARES and world-renowned French crystal maker Lalique, I knew it was time.
ARES Wami Lalique Spyder
Harkening back to the romance of driving in the 50s, when a two-seater convertible carved the corners of a bluff as a silk scarf flutters just above the windscreen and a pair of leather gloves glides over the steering wheel, the latest edition in the Legend Reborn programme from ARES Modena embodies that very glamour and exclusiveness.
Ares Modena, with showrooms all over the world, creates one-of-a-kind luxury cars and motorbikes are designed to be unique and timeless.
The ARES Wami Lalique Spyder sports a bold muscular silhouette, crafted from a blend of hand-shaped aluminum and carbon fiber. The Spyder’s exterior design is reminiscent of the halcyon days of the Dolce Vita. Its evocative styling cues include chromed exhausts, front and rear bumper with over-riders and wire wheels giving the vehicle the opulent nod to the past and a timeless appearance.
Made in collaboration with France’s Lalique, the car’s interior boasts custom crystal design and handcrafted Italian upholstery creating a perfect blend of artisan skills and sumptuous luxury detailing.
From the delicately decorated center console to the doors, the elegant interior boasts 13 hand-made crystal embellishments; four of which are proudly mounted in the Spyder’s wire wheels. Others are embedded in the dash, the center console, the hood and the headrests.
These are perfectly complemented by the finest English oak dashboard housing the classic white on back dials – reminiscent of the bygone era. The many details enriched with the glass finishes from the French Maison show a style that recalls the Art Nouveau era and transform the car into a true piece of art.
While it’s the first time Lalique has completely outfitted a production car, Lalique’s automotive pedigree is well founded, with the French company responsible for making the detailed crystal mascots that adorned many of Ettore Bugatti’s cars in the 1920s.
Priced just under £400,000 ($502,520.00 USD) the Spyder comes in only a few colors, such as Amalfi Red or Mediterranean Light Blue, to remain true to the pastel palate of the midcentury cars it emulates.
