The CEO and founder of Spanx, Sara Blakely, celebrates and supports moms-to-be-with her latest endeavor: The Belly Art Project in which more than 100 baby bumps become billboards of hope by painting upon them.
The Belly Art Project
100 soon-to-be mommies, including celebrities, had a brush put to their bellies to turn them into a cause for mothers everywhere. The photos of the humorous and trompe l’oeil belly art have been bound into a beautiful book, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Every Mother Counts a non-profit organization which works to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for women everywhere.
The brainchild of Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx and the Sara Blakely Foundation, The Belly Art Project is part movement, part celebration and part product – all intended to promote “Moms supporting Moms.”
The labor of love, so to speak, was 7 years in the making and includes celebrities like Kate Winslet (mother of three), and Milla Jovovich (mother of two); business leaders like Zanna Roberts Rassi, fashion editor and TV host, and Stacey Bendet, founder and CEO of Alice and Olivia; as well as everyday women from all over the world.
In addition to the book, they are hoping to inspires people to pick up a paintbrush, adorn a belly and help a mom with their DIY Kit. We already know moms change the world; this is just one more way.
Celebrate the mother in all of us and support moms everywhere with this beautiful, happy book.
