In this day and age, a missing cell phone is more than just frustrating, it’s frantic-inducing. Once only used for talking (can you believe it?) the phone is now is our most prized possession. In addition to being a tool for communication, it provides us with a camera, contacts, directions, entertainment, reminders and even acts as a wallet. Lose it and you’ve lost everything. And in the U.S., one is lost every 3.5 seconds.
Your car keys, your laptop bag, your remote control, your wallet, your iPad… even your pet. All easy to misplace but now even easier to find. For the panic that sets in when you can’t find that item necessary to survive, TrackR Pixel comes to the rescue.
How It Works
Stick the little slim, flat circular device on the item you tend to lose (too bad it looks a little goofy on my reading glasses) and you can ping it through the app on your phone. To find the lost item, just select it from the app home screen and tap the green speaker button.
The TrackR device, which casts a signal up to a 100 foot radius, sounds an alarm, illuminates (very helpful in the dark) and the distance locator on the app tells you when you’re getting close.
Find Your Pet
Any dog or cat owner knows that feeling of dread when they see the door or yard gate open, only to discover their fur baby is nowhere to be found. A beloved pet is one of the top 5 most common items tracked with the TrackR pixel (the other four are keys, wallet, laptop bags and remotes). Put it on their collar, hang tag, harness or outfit (if you’re into dressing up your pet) and as long as they haven’t boarded a plane or traveled too far, you can welcome them home with a sigh of relief.
Find Your Phone
And if it’s your phone that you continually lose, you can just put the device somewhere else (like on your keychain or laptop), press the button and it will ring your phone- even if it’s set on silent.
Integrate it With Alexa
If you are an Amazon Alexa owner, the TrackR Pixel integrates with it so you can just say “Alexa, ask TrackR to find my phone” and Alexa will ring it loudly, even on silent. If your phone isn’t in the house, Alexa can tell you the address of its exact location.
Crowd Locate
The TrackR Pixel is equipped a ‘crowd-locate’ ability. This requires two users. Meaning, when another Track R user comes within range of your lost item, you’ll receive an anonymous location update.
Family Sharing
You can track and ring the same TrackR pixel from multiple phones with family-sharing. This means commonly shared objects such as house keys or the family pet can be found by multiple people.
First announced at 2017 CES, the new TrackR Pixel is smaller, louder and equipped with a longer range then the brand’s anodized bluetooth tracker, the TrackR Bravo. The battery is replaceable, eliminating the need to buy another device.
