The Lingholm Estate is a country house just outside Portinscale in Cumbria, England. The Estate has twelve high-quality holiday properties in which you can stay, but the most beautiful and unique is the luxurious Boathouse on the grounds designed by Shaw & Jagger architects.

The Lingholm Boathouse in Cumbria is situated on the shore of Derwentwater in one of the most scenic locations in The Lakes. According to architects Shaw and Jagger, the boathouse was the key reason for the purchase of the entire estate by their client back in 2013.
The estate had the benefit of an existing boathouse structure on the side of Derwentwater, however it was in a poor state of repair. Design analysis of the site and local vernacular led to several design options for the proposed boathouse, which were subject to review by a design review board and the local Council due to the extremely sensitive nature of the shoreline of the lake and the location within the National Park, SSSI and World Heritage site.
The finished boathouse is a luxurious one bedroom Scandinavian-style apartment that offers private mooring and stunning panoramic views of the lakeland setting. One of the last new boathouses allowed on the shores of Derwentwater, it’s clad in wood and stone to blend in seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
Inside, the Nordic modern furnishings and fittings reflect the highest quality.
