Mexican architecture firm Punto Arquitectonico renovated an old home in the historic center of Yucatan’s capital Merida and transformed it into Casa Xolotl, a beautifully designed romantic getaway you can rent for $220 a night through Airbnb. What really surprised me about this new home was not the outrageous size or intimidating asking price of $62 million, that’s become the price of entry for a mansion in LA these days, but the architecture firm behind it. It was designed by Olson Kundig, a firm whose work we’ve shared with you five times for their beautiful designs. However, this 15,642 sq.ft. home is uncharacteristically outrageous for the usually tasteful Seattle, Washington based firm. (more…)

Cool, Clean and Pristine: Fran Silvestre’s Casa Hofmann

If you’re familiar with the works of the Internationally-awarded Fran Silvestre Architecture and Design studio based in Valencia, Spain, you know that their homes are almost always imposing modern white concrete geometric structures with open interiors and sparkling swimming pools.
