Artist Vik Muniz Creates Limited Edition Hummingbird Bottle for Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Rosé

Limited Edition Hummingbird Bottle for Perrier Jouet

Artist Vik Muniz was asked to create a special limited edition Hummingbird Bottle for Perrier Jouet for their 2005 vintage of Belle Epoque Rosé. He felt the front of the bottle didn’t warrant any more decoration, so he chose to create the hummingbird on the interior back side. The accompanying box has a gold foil printed humming bird amongst the company’s signature anemones.

In life as in nature, certain encounters yield a beauty all of their own. Especially when both parties have much in common. The auspices were thus favourable when Perrier-Jouët combined with internationally acclaimed Brazilian visual artist Vik Muniz to design the limited edition of Belle Epoque Rosé 2005.

Vik Muniz conceived the fairy-tale encounter of a dazzling golden hummingbird with the iconic Perrier-Jouët anemone. When the bright-gold burst Brazilian bird hovered momentarily over a bed of flowers in his ceaseless quest for nectar, he spied the latter’s pristine white petals, marvelled at her delicate beauty the latter’s white petals turning gently pink in pleasure at such gallant scrutiny.

Encounters with Beauty:

Described as “the most extravagant and graceful Perrier-Jouët wine of the Belle Epoque Collection” by Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps, the Belle Epoque Rosé 2005 is a wine whose charm and extravagance precisely mirror Vik Muniz’s design adorning the bottle. Vik Muniz is a worldwide recognised “craftsman-conjurer” with a hands-on approach who works in natural materials ranging from diamonds to dust. A visual artist and self-described “low-tech illusionist”, Muniz has created images, in a wide range of materials from chocolate and sugar to junk and toys, recording them with a camera. Over the last 15 years, Vik Muniz’s extensive portfolio has featured in one-man exhibitions at leading galleries worldwide such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Madrid’s Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the Brazilian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in Italy.
