JR’s Eco Hut
If you’re looking to go off the grid yet still not ‘rough it’, this is the perfect place to take in the surrounding beauty of the Australian Bush. The beautifully designed timber hut stands alone on a hill outside Gundagai in rural New South Wales.
It is the latest addition to Kimo Estate, a second generation farm which has diversified to host weddings and provide accommodations showcasing the areas natural beauty. It is a place to switch off, quite literally, and forget about the distractions of modern life.
Sustainable Australian hardwoods were the obvious choice given the huts ‘eco’ brief and remote location. The hut is solar powered, has a wood-burning stove and a large shower for two with a view.
Exterior:
The huts form was inspired by a classic ‘A’ frame tent, which simultaneously provides both refuge from, and connection with, the natural environment. An expressed hardwood structure anchors the building, defining the interior spaces and framing views of the surrounding farmlands. Timber features throughout the hut, with hand crafted details recalling the character of agricultural buildings found on the property.
Inside:
JR’s Eco Hut is totally off grid but has everything that you need including a beautiful bathroom with 360 degree views over the Murrambidgee River flats/Kimo Valley. Your night in JR’s Hut also includes a breakfast you can enjoy while taking in the beautiful morning sun.
JR’s Hut is designed to maximize the spectacular views from the top of the hill and provide a quiet spot to refresh and take in the Australian Bush.
UPDATE: They now have three Eco Huts on the property and two with hot tubs!
