Enjoy Our Nature Condoms is a collection of condoms whose unique packaging reflects Iceland’s explosive nature.

Condoms from Iceland

Gerist are designers Fridgerdur Gudmundsdottir and Kristin Birna Bjarnadottir, who met while they were studying at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2005-2008. The duo won first prize at the Reykjavík Souvenir Design Competition in 2010 with their Reykjavik Towel and Soap. The towel wraps around you and is shaped like the old hot tubs that can be found in almost any outdoor swimming pool in Reykjavik, a place known for its numerous geothermal pools allowing outdoor all year round.

From there, they explored more to enjoy in nature that surrounds us and Enjoy Our Nature was born. The condoms are available in six different package designs as well as two collaborative efforts.

Geyser Condom

Geysir, sometimes known as The Great Geysir, is a geyser in southwestern Iceland. It was the first geyser described in a printed source and the first known to modern Europeans. The English word geyser derives from Geysir. The name Geysir itself is derived from the Icelandic verb geysa, “to gush”, the verb from Old Norse.

Reynisdrangar Condom / Rock formation

Reynisdrangar are basalt sea stacks situated under the mountain near the village Vík í Mýrdal on the south coast of Iceland. Legend says that the stacks originated when two trolls dragged a masted ship to land unsuccessfully and when daylight broke they became needles of rock.

Fimmvörðuháls Condom / Volcanic Eruption

On 20 March 2010, an eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano began in Fimmvörðuháls following months of small earthquakes under the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. The eruption began around 23:00 and opened a 0.5 km (0.31 mi) long fissure vent on the northern part of the pass. Just over a week later, the Fimmvörðuháls eruption produced a 300-meter (980 ft)-long fissure and new craters were seen erupting on a northward path toward the area of Thórsmörk, a popular tourist nature preserve, prompting tours to stop briefly as volcanologists assessed the situation further. The two new craters at Fimmvörduháls were named Magni and Móði, after the sons of Thor, the Norse god of thunder. It is an apt name because Thórsmörk is close to the craters.
