When a commercial about baseball, a sport about which I have little interest, gives me goosebumps and makes me tear up, it’s worth a share. With the Yankees set to retire Jeter’s number 2 this Sunday, Budweiser takes us along for an emotional ride as the world follows suit in respect.

Budweiser’s Moving Tribute To Jeter’s Number 2

Budweiser’s latest two-minute TV ad is a stirring tribute to Derek Jeter, aka The Captain, who retired from the game in 2014. The Yankees will be retiring his number (2) this weekend and in this two minute montage we see people “retiring” numbers 2’s all around New York City.

It’s a moving and visually captivating way to honor the 20 years he wore the stripes.

The spot was created by VaynerMedia, and will is running on Budweiser’s social channels and in paid digital.

“I’m honored MLB and Budweiser chose to celebrate my jersey retirement this way, and I’m really looking forward to being back at Yankee Stadium this weekend,” Jeter said in a statement provided by Budweiser.

On May 11th Derek Jeter wrote a Thank You letter to New York in return – published on a sports publishing media platform that he founded, The Players’ Tribune:
