Limited edition conceptual series in 2010

Back in 2010 Swedish Designer Johan Lindstèn created a conceptual series of 10 Embroidered Chairs which debuted at Stockholm Design Week and were available for purchase exclusively at Stockholm’s Gallery Pascale. At that time, the chairs consisted of 2 different silhouettes, various colors and heavily padded and upholstered backrests.

Redesigned for Cappellini in 2016, the chairs are now in one silhouette with a low curved seat, splayed wood turned legs and a curved wood backrest. Embellished with cross-stitch embroidery on tapestry wool of the Four Seasons, the chairs depict painterly landscape scenes with animals.

Four-Seasons-Embroidery-Chairs

Expressing the encounter between the tradition of embroidery passed down through generations and next-generation industrial technology, these four chairs were manufactured with modern electric machinery simulating the process of hand cross-stitching with wool yarns.
