FLEYE Danish Designer Eyewear To Die For

Fleye hero with Nima and Cosmos IIHIH

Danish brand FLEYE, which is short for Fine Looking Eye, has been crafting feather-light and fashionable eyewear in their original designs since 2002. Made from allergy-friendly and feather-light materials, every design is born at FLEYE’s residence; an architect designed manor house in the idyllic countryside outside Copenhagen, Denmark.

The eyewear is hand made from allergy-friendly and feather-light materials such as acetate, beta-titanium, carbon fibre and buffalo horn. The lightness is crucial to ensure maximum comfort. The combination of these materials ensures lightness, strength, durability and flexibility.

Danish nature and historic architecture have been the inspiration for FLEYE’s use of Scandinavian mythology when naming the frames. Inspiration is also found in fashion trends and foreign cultures where elements of impressions are molded into innovative frame designs with color and personality combined with Scandinavian simplicity and harmony.

THE COLLECTIONS
FLEYE has several collections which include many wonderful frames; ACETATE, BETA TITANIUM, CARBON, RIMLESS, SUNGLASSES, CHILDREN’S and SPECIAL EDITIONS. In this post, I am sharing with you very few frames from each collection. Be sure to visit their site to see their complete selection.

ACETATE
Acetate hero IIHIH

Acetate is a comfortable and nickel-free plastic material from Italy which consists of several layers whereby a unique play of colours and pattern is created. The colours follow the current trends and are inspired by international fashion and fabric fairs. The materials’ lightness and flexibility as well as a special designed titanium wire for the nose pads support the frame’s comfort and facilitate adaptation of the frame.

CARBON

Carbon fibre almost defies the laws of physics. The material is light as a feather yet tremendously strong. It is used in Formula 1 racing cars, aircraft, luxury yachts – and now in FLEYE’s new eyewear collection. When you get inside the carbon fibre material, you discover a world of fibres that criss-cross in various inspiring patterns. By using the natural texture created by the carbon fibre as a visually attractive detail on the glasses, the designers have created a unique look while retaining the material’s outstanding technical qualities.

Temples for rimless may also be made from Italian nickel-free acetate which consists of several layers whereby a unique play of colours and pattern is created. The colours follow the current trends and are inspired by international fashion and fabric fairs. They have two subsets within their rimless collection; Inside Out and Traditional.

SPECIAL EDITIONS

HORN (EXCLUSIVE AND TRADITIONAL)

buffalo horn and wood combination

Exclusive horn eyewear handmade in nature’s own materials. The horn from selected Asian water buffaloes is combined with a variation of different materials from nature depending on the model: rosewood, ebony wood, beta-titanium, and 18 carat red- and white gold.

As horn is a natural material, colours and structure may vary. That means every single pair of horn glasses is unique. Horn requires treatment now and then using the enclosed beeswax.

HORN – TRADITIONAL
Their traditional horn collection is formed in classic fronts of beta-titanium in combination with hand-crafted temples of buffalo horn. The combination of these two materials creates an elegant synergy and harmony whereby each frame is unique with an incomparable soul and substance. The frame’s horn side bars are adapted by the use of heat and must be maintained continuously by using the accompanying oil for care of the material’s soft expression and shine.
