2018 Oscars Red Carpet Couture By Color

Oscars red carpet couture 2018

If black was THE color at the last Golden Globes to show solidarity, then anything BUT black was the theme on the red carpet at last night’s Oscar ceremonies. The 90th Academy Awards brought out the celebs clad in colorful couture and only a scant few wore black.

Oscars Red Carpet Couture By Color

Here’s a look at some of the best, most beautiful and as always, the mishaps (can’t forget those, they’re like fashion bloopers). Note: for those who want to know the fashion designers of each gown, see our full album of 70+ photos with captions here on our FaceBook page.

Make Me Blush.
The pale pink, peach, beige-ish neutral referred to as “blush”, was last night’s most popular choice.

Allison Williams and Gina Rodriquez slayed in their blush and crystal gowns.

As did Kristin Cavallari, Keala Settle, Giuliana Ranic

Elisabeth Moss, Laurie Metcalf, Abbie Cornish

Mira Sorvino and Saoirse Ronan.

Red Hot.
Allison Janney and Meryl Streep along with Samara Weaving, Christine Lahti and Sofia Carson turned up the heat with gorgeous bold, red gowns on the red carpet.

Beautiful In Blue.
Nicole Kidman, Helen Mirren and Jennifer Garner were beauties in blue.

White Walkers
Jane Fonda, Margot Robbie and Mary J. Blige walked the red carpet in white.

As did Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern and Janet Mock.

Shimmery Metallics
Shimmering golds, liquid-like silver and gunmetal grey added sparkle to the gowns of Rita Moreno,  Jennifer Lawrence, Gal Gadot, Sally Hawkins and Sandra Bullock.

Vibrant and Distinct
Going for vibrant colors that stood out were Viola Davis, Greta Gerwig, Ashley Judd and Wendi McLendon-Covey

Gorgeous Greys
Molly Simms, Zoey Deutsch and Leslie Manning all looked elegant in cool and warm grey gowns.

It’s hard to pull off a floral, but Hailee Steinfeld, Whoopi Goldberg and Paz Vega managed to do so with some very unusual gowns.

Zendaya looked so hot in chocolate Chiffon, she was in a category by herself.

And yes, there were a few, very few, who went for Classic Black
Leslie Bibb, Maria Menounos and Taraji P. Henson opted for classic Black.

What Were They Thinking?
And now, EGADS! some of the gowns we simply couldn’t like, no matter how much we tried:
Salma Hayek, Andra Day and Haley Bennett each wore gowns they shouldn’t have.

Tragic Tulle and Ice Capades
For Emily Blunt, Lindsay Vonn, Camila Alves and Kelly Marie Tran, their tulle got the best of them. As for Betty Gabriel and Mirai Nagasu, they look like they’re ready to be extras in I, Tonya.

Maya Rudolph showed up in a Snuggie (I wish I could take credit for that one, but my friend Paula Branvold came up with it) and although Tiffany Hadish wore a native Eritrean gown in honor of her father that passed away, even he might have told her she shouldn’t have.

And there you have our color-coded round up. To see more of the gowns and a few of the tuxes, see our complete album crediting the fashion designers here.
