Star Trek Continues. A Web Series Picks Up Where The Original Left Off.

Miss the original Star Trek series? The kitschy and campy one with original sounds, a slutty captain, cheap looking uniforms and sets? Well, this will fill that void.

Star Trek Continues Web Series

Intended to pick up where the original show left off, the web series “Star Trek Continues” from Conde Nast entertainment has brought about a wave of nostalgic appreciation for the classic sci-fi show. After a successful Kickstarter campaign and now, with two full webisodes under its belt, the show, by producer/director/super fan/star Vic Mignogna, is ushering in brand-new voyages of the Starship Enterprise.

The new Star Trek Continues Web Series carries on the original 5-year mission. Star Trek Continues begins right where the original left off. On June 3, 1969. Dr. Janice Lester was led away and Kirk, Spock & Scotty walked into a Turbolift. That was the last live action anyone would see of the original series of Star Trek.

The following copy is from their website:
For many of us, Star Trek has shaped who we’ve become. It is our passion, our love and even our moral compass. Most importantly, it binds fans together from across the planet into a spirited discourse on the many dimensions of our fictional universe. Carl Sagan said it best, “We are all connected . . .”, and indeed, Star Trek connects each of us to one another.

We would have many more adventures with Kirk and crew over the years, but never again in the style of the original series or with the original actors. This vignette shows you the beginning of their vision of how a little show that became a worldwide phenomenon could have evolved had it never ended.

Two full webisodes have been produced already and are available to view.

The Cast
cast

A great deal of thought and consideration went into the assembling the best cast possible to pay homage to the great actors that played these legendary characters, while injecting their own talent and expertise into their performances bringing the highest quality possible to the screen.

Vic Mignogna as Captain James T. Kirk

Vic has been acting from the age of eight all the way through college where he majored in film and minored in theatre. Vic has been in countless professional stage and film productions but perhaps is best known as a prolific voice actor for over two hundred animated series and video games including Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragonball Z, Pokemon and many more. As a young boy, Vic fell in love with Star Trek and is realizing his boyhood dream to play the role of Captain Kirk.

Todd Haberkorn as Mr. Spock

Todd got his first professional start in stage productions as a boy. He then went on to a degree in theatre from SMU. Being in front of and behind the camera in almost every capacity, Todd is an accomplished actor, director, producer and writer. He works in every medium from animation and film to voice over and theatre. Todd continues to produce with his own company, Out of the Office Productions.

Larry Nemecek as Dr. McCoy
mccoy2
A native of Norman, OK, Larry is well known to the Star Trek community. He has been seen in countless Trek documentaries and is a convention speaker, worldwide. Larry has a BA and MA in theatre and is producing “The Con of Wrath”, a documentary revisiting the most glorious failure in Star Trek history. His new non-fiction Trek book/map set is due to be announced soon and will be on sale this fall.

Chris Doohan as Mr. Scott
scotty
Chris is no stranger to Star Trek. Having spent time on the original series sets with his dad. He began his acting adventure on the Enterprise in 1979 appearing in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. That was the first of several appearances on the beloved ship. His most recent trek put him in the transporter room of the critically acclaimed Star Trek (2009), sharing the screen with the new Scotty, Simon Pegg. Chris has also done several character voice-overs for the Starship Farragut animated episodes, including that of the iconic engineer himself.

Grant Imahara as Mr. Sulu

Grant is one of the hosts of Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters. Before that, he spent nine years as an animatronics engineer and model maker for George Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic. Grant worked on many blockbusters including The Matrix sequels, Galaxy Quest, Terminator 3, and Star Wars: Episodes 1-3 (although he is NOT responsible for Jar Jar). He put the lights in R2-D2’s dome and gave the Energizer Bunny his beat. He created the often rude and irreverent robot skeleton sidekick for late night talk show host Craig Ferguson.

Kim Stinger as Lt. Uhura
uhura
Kim has appeared in film, on television, in commercials and on the web. She has had roles on shows like The Bold and the Beautiful, America’s Most Wanted and the films Thunder Geniuses and Pastor Jones 2: Lord, Save My Daughter. Lt. Uhura will be a standout among her roles, not only because of Kim’s respect for Nichelle Nichols who originated the iconic character, but also for the tremendous enthusiasm Trek fans have for Uhura and the entire cast of the classic series.

Wyatt Lenhart as Ensign Chekov

Wyatt has been acting since he was a child playing roles like Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Into The Woods: Rapunzel’s Prince and more. He’s won several classical piano competitions and enjoys composing, singing and playing bass with his band. Wyatt even works as a flight director at the Christa McAuliffe Space Education Center taking young students to distant destinations in the galaxy. He comes from a family of nine where the ultimate family pastime is anything Star Trek.

Michele Specht as Dr. Elise MacKennah

In addition to her role as the Enterprise’s first ship’s counselor, Michele is known to Sci-Fi fans as bounty hunter Red in Fallout: Nuka Break, and as Betty the Manipulation Core in the Portal-based Aperture R&D. Although she started her career with classical training – earning degrees in both Theater and Classical Music – she began her Los Angeles career in sketch comedy. While currently making a living in TV and film appearances, voice acting, and commercials, she first spent 10 years creating and performing original characters, sketches, musicals, and short films all over LA and beyond – including the HBO Comedy Workspace and multiple comedy festivals. She lives in Los Angeles and spends most of her time on set being told in various forms: “Great – now turn it down a notch”.
