Mid-Century Modern Eames Coloring Toy is Reintroduced

Eames Office The Coloring Toy is a boxed set of 16 crayons, 8 die-cut panels and butterfly clips that was designed in 1955 by Charles and Ray Eames. Intended as a way for children to explore color, drawing, shapes and imaginative play, it’s been re-issued for a whole new generation of MCM lovers and their kids.

Eames Office The Coloring Toy

“This box contains all the ingredients for a kind of fun that children have enjoyed for a long time.”

As the open-ended instructions say, “The purpose of The Coloring Toy is to provide a sort of jet assist into a world of color, drawing, shapes and play. This is a world discovered and rediscovered by all children and is their own to create. The Coloring Toy does not presume to make artists out of children or to teach them how to play (children are far ahead of us on both counts). But we do hope that the contents of this box and the clues it offers will stimulate the use of these and other materials in an ever expanding variety of ways.”

Watch as children, and the young at heart, dive deep into their very own world of imagination as they color, create, and play with an endless number of creations. If ordinary coloring books are a novel, consider The Coloring Toy a choose-your-own-adventure story!

We are excited to reintroduce this timeless toy, first designed by the Eames Office in 1955, to a new generation of eager creators.
