Artist Julia Lohmann’s Headless Bovine Benches

headless bovine benches

Artist Julia Lohmann’s headless bovine benches are a collection of leather wrapped wood benches designed as headless cows which explore the threshold between animal and materials.

Headless Bovine Benches

For her cow benches, UK artist Julia first hand-sculpts the foam into the shapes of reclining cows (sans heads) and then wraps them in various colors of real leather. Set upon a wood base, the ironic seating combines the material we get from the animal whose shape they emulate.

She even names them; Rosel, Belinda, Raul, Eileen, Carla, Elsa, Radia.
