Each year at Holiday time Kiehl’s teams up with a designer or artist to produce specially designed packaging for some of their most popular products and donates the proceeds to a charity. This year they’ve collaborated with Brooklyn-based artists Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller of FAILE for Baby Give Back, with proceeds benefiting Feeding America.

Kiehl’s & FAILE Holiday Collection

In support of organizations that work to help children and their families thrive, Kiehl’s Since 1851 continues its philanthropic tradition this holiday season. The New York City-born and bred apothecary, whose formulations are all made in America, proudly announces its collaboration with Brooklyn-based artists Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller. Kiehl’s is thrilled to launch its 8th Annual Limited Edition Holiday Collection, featuring custom art designed by the Brooklyn-based duo. From this limited edition collection, 100% of Kiehl’s net profits, up to $100,000, will help provide 1,100,000 meals* to families this holiday season through Feeding America®, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity.

With a presence in all 50 states, Feeding America’s nationwide network of 200 member food banks support 60,000 food assistance programs, shelters and meal sites. Each year, Feeding America’s network provides meals and resources to over 46 million people in the United States struggling with food insecurity, including nearly 12 million children. The Feeding America network secures and distributes 3.7 billion meals annually.

Baby Give Back

“We are excited to have the opportunity to work together with Kiehl’s to create a piece of art and product that will help support Feeding America. We wanted our collaboration with Kiehl’s to highlight the personal power of purchasing and the proceeds that benefit the Feeding America program. Based on this, we decided to title our collaboration “Baby Give Back,” letting the idea that customers can care for themselves while caring for others reflect through our artwork and the packaging, says Patrick Miller.

We created typography that could serve as bridge between skincare and something as serious as hunger while keeping it empowering and whimsical by writing lines such as, “Skin Caring is Sharing,” “Beauty and the Feast,” and “Apply Generously,” continues Patrick McNeil. An additional goal of ours was to help consumers connect the amount of direct support that each purchase offers those in need. We chose to include the amount of meals provided in the artwork on each box so the connection was visually celebrated. To that end, we even created a lunch box style package to help reinforce this notion that your support translates to something real and tangible.”

“Feeding America is thrilled to partner with Kiehl’s for another exciting collaboration that will help provide more than 1,000,000 meals to children and families this holiday season,” says Nancy Curby, Interim Senior Vice President of Development at Feeding America. “Hunger is an issue that impacts every single county in our country and we are grateful for incredible partnerships, like the one we share with Kiehl’s, that help the Feeding America network provide more meals and more support for people in need.”

“One of the reasons we’re thrilled to partner with FAILE’s this holiday season because we were so impressed with their dedication to reflecting the message of giving back in their artwork,” says Chris Salgardo, President, Kiehl’s USA. “It’s also a perfect partnership in that Kiehl’s, whose formulations are all made in America, and FAILE both call New York City home.”

He continues, “We’re honored to continue to support Feeding America. It’s unacceptable to me to think that 15 million children in this country are food insecure. We’re humbled that the sales of our limited edition products will help secure more than 1,000,000 meals this holiday season.”

FAILE

FAILE is the Brooklyn-based artistic collaboration between Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller. Their name is an anagram of their first project, “A life.” Since its inception in 1999, FAILE has been known for a wide-ranging multimedia practice recognizable for its explorations of duality through a fragmented style of appropriation and collage. While painting and printmaking remain central to their approach, over the past decade FAILE has adapted its signature mass culture-driven iconography to vast array of materials and techniques, from sculptural wood paintings and video games to more traditional canvas, prints, sculptures, stencils, installation, and prayer wheels. FAILE’s work has been exhibited extensively around the world – most recently they have been the subject of solo exhibitions at The Brooklyn Museum (2015), New York’s Time Square (2015) Dallas Contemporary (2013) and New York City Ballet’s Art Series (2013).
