Comfortably Numb Purple Rain Mashup by David Gilmour

Two of my personal favorites were combined into one performance in a concert for Teenage Cancer Trust. As a moving tribute to the recent passing of Prince, David Gilmour, best known as the voice and guitar of Pink Floyd, performed this Comfortably Numb Purple Rain Mashup at the Royal Hall on April 24th.

On Sunday, April 24th 2016 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd performed for Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall. The legendary guitarist wowed the Royal Albert Hall with a stunning 3 hour set – the perfect finale to an incredible week of shows in which New Order, Simply Red and others performed. But it was his this Mashup that’s been the talk of the internet.

The mesmerized audience enjoyed hits from Gilmour’s solo albums including ‘Rattle That Lock’ and ‘The Blue’, as well as Pink Floyd favourites ‘Time/Breathe reprise’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’.

In a nod to the late music legend Prince, who died on Thursday, David Gilmour played the guitar solo to ‘Purple Rain’, while the iconic hall became bathed in purple light.

Prince would be pleased.
