People products has launched their first watch, a minimalist and modern pocket watch for men or women. The lightweight, sleek stainless steel watch is available in classic bronze or contemporary dark grey with a chain or leather strap so it can be worn around the neck or as a traditional pocket watch.
Axcent Pocket Watch from People Products
The Axcent Pocket Watch is the first watch from People Products, a company launched by Stockholm collective People People to manufacture and market its own designs, such as the transparent speaker I introduced you to in the past.
The designers aimed to update the traditional pocket watch in the same way that the fashion industry has updated the three-piece suit.
They also wanted to use the pocket watch to reflect on changing ways of telling the time – from looking at your wrist to reaching into your pocket for your phone.
The 45 millimeter diameter case is made from stainless steel, available with either a dark grey or bronze finish.
The metal was chosen to keep the watch light enough to slip into a pocket or wear around the neck.
A loop at the top of the case allows the watch to be attached to its chain or a vegetable tanned leather strap (both of which come with the watch) for wearing on and around the body.

Simple dial markings are etched into the matching steel face, with contrasting white hour and minute hands made from brass. The face is covered with a sapphire crystal lens.

The watch comes in an understated card box, with both strap options provided. Both the inner and the outer structure of the packaging is made of cardboard, making it easy to recycle.
