Artist Natasha Wittke is a camping enthusiast obsessed with both the great outdoors and great design. This led her to launch a stylish camping gear company, Norquay Co., which features her own line of beautifully hand-painted cherry wood canoe paddles.
Artisan Canoe Paddles from Norquay Co.
The canoe paddles are reminiscent of the artisan axes from Best Made Co and like those, are both decorative and functional.
Named after a tiny Algonquinesque island, nested in the cool waters of Lake Huron, Norquay Co. handcrafts artisan canoe paddles in small batches. The 100% solid cherrywood paddles are made in Northern Ontario by Teal Paddles and then each paddle is hand-painted and hand-finished in Natasha’s Montreal-based studio and is varnished for durability and protection against the elements.
With the purchase of each Norquay Artisan Canoe Paddle, you will receive a complimentary handmade leather paddle harness which also allows you to hang them on the wall.
Pre-orders for the SPRING/SUMMER 2014 batch is on and will run until May 15th, 2014 or until paddles run out. Production will begin May 15, 2014 with paddles shipping out the week of June 16, 2014.
