New Sport Plates For Interactive Food Fun By Designer Boguslaw Sliwiński.

You may have seen his wonderful and whimsical Transportation Plates (shown at the end of this post) on some other design blogs such as Dezeen. Now, in addition to those, designer Boguslaw Sliwiński has come up with five new designs that feature a silhouette of a man in various athletic positions, giving the illusion of interacting with food placed on the plate. The five sports: football, skydiving, diving, tug of war and weightlifting are whimsical, but still stylish and will delight children and adults alike.

The method of application is extremely durable and resistant to washing in dishwashers or using in the microwave. This durability is guaranteed by the firing ceramic components in the furnace at a temperature of 800 °C.

Also worth noting is his Face On plate:

Sleevefaces. Vinyl Visages That Are So Simple And Yet So Captivating.

Sleeveface is a website that showcases the illusion of people replacing their own body parts with album covers – in most cases their heads. Some of them are hilarious, others seamlessly constructed and still others compellingly bizarre (no photoshopping allowed).

While the quality of the photographs is mediocre at best (some are out of focus, others poorly lit) it doesn’t detract from the amusing appeal.

Founded in 2007, the site began as an idea, then a website and now, a book

As founder Carl Morris describes it “It started with a Paul McCartney sleeve, then swiftly led to one or more persons in Cardiff, Wales having TOO MUCH fun ransacking their record shelves – from Rolling Stones to Nugent to Bowie to Cymande to Streisand. And people brandishing cameras yelling “up a bit, down a bit”. (You can view the “How to Sleeveface” video at the end of this post).

Here are some of the best (some have been cropped or altered for better visibility) :

Sleeveface the book, a 192-page compilation of Sleeveface pictures, was compiled by Carl Morris and John Rostron with the help of friends – and talented contributors from around the world.

If you’d like to submit your own “sleeveface” you can send it to their website, join their Facebook group and upload it there or join the group pool on Flickr

It’s Big, It’s Bad Ass And It’s Still Not Yet Ready. The $1.42 Million Bugatti 16 C Galibier.

Bugatti 16 C Galibier

We have been teased with the Bugatti 16 C Galibier sedan for over 2 years now, anxiously anticipating what is said to be the world’s most powerful four door luxury sedan.

Bugatti 16 C Galibier

Still not given the green light for production, the French automaker (yes, French was their origin, not Italy)  launched this promotional video, with the most pretentious voiceover I’ve ever heard, a month ago:

Rumored to have been ready for purchase by 2012, Bugatti head Wolfgang Durheimer was reportedly disappointed with the car’s levels of comfort and performance, forcing engineers to go back to the drawing board. Bloomberg is citing two unidentified sources who say the Galibier will actually be launched in 2013 or 2014 with a base price of approximately 1 million euros ($1.42 million USD).

The most recent photos of the Bugatti Galibier prototype:
http://www.ifitshipitshere.com/its-big-its-bad-ass-and-its-still-not-yet-ready-the-1-42-million-bugatti-16-c-galibier/

The Galibier concept, first unveiled in 2010 at the Geneva Auto Show, is a five-door hatchback with sleek styling and incredibly luxury laden custom interior. It boasts a supercharged 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine which likely produced between 800 PS (588 kW / 789 hp) and 1,000 PS (735 kW / 986 hp).

Following the footsteps of the Veyron, the Galibier features a W16 engine displacing 8.0L. However, unlike the Veyron’s quad-turbocharger setup, the Galibier uses two-stage supercharging. The results are essentially the same, though, as the Galibier reportedly produces more than 1,000 horsepower.

Bugatti says the car’s exterior is inspired by the torpedo-like Type 35, while also evoking cues from the Type 57.

The Galibier is largely constructed of carbon fiber, but some body panels — such as the doors and fenders — are made of aluminum. The interior, which has room for four, makes use of similarly exotic materials, albeit of a different variety. The cabin is adorned with the highest quality wood and leather, juxtaposed with an ultramodern LCD center console.

The interior:

And of course, it comes with a watch and luggage:

Production is expected to run 1,500 units, or about five times as many as the outgoing Veyron.
